Ultherapy®

Ultherapy® offers people from the Los Angeles area, Glendale, and Arcadia a precise nonsurgical approach to skin tightening by elevating skin tissues. The results are similar, but the treatment is not as aggressive, as traditional plastic surgical procedures. Ultherapy is performed in Pasadena by Dr. Sasaki’s certified registered nurses under his direct supervision at our Nurse Injection and Laser Center.

An Innovator in Skin Tightening Technology

Dr. Sasaki was the first physician in California (and the fourth in the USA) to implement Ultherapy, the only imaged and focused ultrasonic device (Ulthera, FDA-cleared in September 2009) for multiple levels of tightening and lifting of sagging tissues in the forehead/brow, face and neck.

Dr. Sasaki has been an investigator and consultant for Ulthera since 2009 and is involved in many Institutional Research Board studies to advance the technique for a safer and more effective treatments.

How Ultherapy Works

Ultherapy uses an external transducer on the skin surface to reach all tissue levels from the skin down to the bone. The nurse uses an imaging screen during the treatment to view the treatment area. The Ultherapy transducer focuses 95% of the ultrasonic energy to a point less than 1mm in diameter and precisely releases a number of thermal coagulation points on the muscle’s fascial covering and targets the upper and lower levels of the reticular dermis of the skin. These pin-point sites of thermal injury result in reorganization and contraction of the collagen fibers to tighten and elevate the skin to create a more youthful look.

Your Ultherapy Procedure

Since September 2009, Dr. Sasaki and his registered nurses have treated over 500 patients with a very high response rate (8 out of 10 patients), similar to that observed in Europe and the Far East.

The procedure is performed usually without topical anesthetics. Results appear as early as 6 weeks in some patients and the majority of patients see results within 3 months. Skin tightening effects of Ultherapy can last as long as 1-2 years.

Ultherapy for the Aging Face

Ultherapy nonsurgical skin tightening is frequently combined with dermal fillers to add volume to the face, including the temporal hollows and midface/perioral irregularities. A more dramatic improvement in skin laxity and appearance can be achieved with surgery such as a facelift or neck lift. Dr. Sasaki will advise his patients, based on his findings and the patient’s goals, whether or not nonsurgical skin tightening like Ultherapy is appropriate or if surgery is a better option.

Surgical procedures for patients will almost always result in longer-lasting outcomes than nonsurgical approaches. On the other hand, nonsurgical tightening with Ultherapy and volume replacement treatments with JUVÉDERM VOLUMA® or your own fat may offer an alternative approach for further facial rejuvenation.
