The inner thigh is one of the most aesthetically sensitive areas in body contouring. The “thigh gap” in youth can reflect fragility and femininity while excess skin from weight fluctuations or aging can be both aesthetically and functionally troublesome. Most often excess skin is accompanied by uneven fat distribution in this region. Depending on your individual anatomy, correction of this deformity requires a combination of liposuction and skin excision. Some patients fall on either extremes of this spectrum and only need surgery or liposuction. That would be determined during your consultation. The scar from the skin excision usually resembles letter “L” with the long limb in the middle of the inner thigh and short limb in the crease. As in any body lift procedures, Dr. Sasaki will make sure that patient’s weight has been stable and there is plan for maintenance around the same weight. Any weight changes could alter and lessen the aesthetic outcome.
