Buttock Augmentation

Author: Dr. Gordon Sasaki

At his Pasadena plastic surgery practice, Dr. Sasaki performs buttock augmentation with fat grafting to give men from Los Angeles, Glendale, and Arcadia full, round buttocks. During your consultation, Dr. Sasaki will have a detailed discussion about your desired look and during the examination he will decide whether you have enough fat in other areas of your body to transfer to your buttocks to achieve your goals.

How Is Buttock Augmentation Performed?

Using liposuction, fat is harvested from areas such as abdomen, flanks, back and thighs. It is then placed in the gluteal area to create masculine and athletic buttock contours. Ideal buttock shape varies in different cultures, ethnicities and preference.

How Much Fat Is Needed for Buttock Augmentation?

The amount of fat needed depends on your height, weight, gluteal muscle size, overall shape and how much augmentation you desire. On average, it takes about 300 cc in each buttock to have a noticeable improvement.

What If There Is Not Enough Fat for Buttock Augmentation?

If you don’t have enough excess fat to augment your buttocks, you can still get significant improvement and reshaping of your buttocks area through liposuction of your flanks and back to give your buttocks area more definition and rounder shape. A buttocks implant is another option for patients with inadequate fat reservoir.

Buttock Augmentation Recovery & Results

After the surgery you will wear a specific garment to control swelling in the liposuctioned areas and keep pressure off the augmented area for 6 weeks. For the fat to stay alive and “take” it is crucial to avoid pressure. Patients are prohibited from laying on their back or sitting on their buttocks strictly for 1 week. After that, patients may sit for very short period of time and are encouraged to squat and sit on their thighs to minimize the pressure.
