Hair Stimulation For Women and Men

As more and more women with hair loss are finding out, Hair Stimulation surgery is no longer just for men. In fact, member surveys conducted over the years by the International Society of Hair Stimulation Surgery (ISHRS) – the world’s leading medical authority on hair loss and Hair Stimulation – to determine practice trends found that the percent of female Hair Stimulation surgical patients worldwide increased from 11.4 percent in 2004 to 13.8 percent in 2006 to 15.1 percent in 2008.

“Women experiencing hair loss typically spend a considerable amount of time and money trying to conceal areas of thinning hair,” says Dr. Sasaki of Pasadena and Sasaki Advance Aesthetic Medical Center. “Since there are many different types of hair loss, it is essential to understand the root cause of the condition before we can treat it.”

Dr. Sasaki explains that pattern hair loss, which is usually attributed to genetics, affects both men and women. However, while men with pattern hair loss often experience a receding hairline or bald spot on the top of the scalp, women with female pattern hair loss display different signs.

“In women, female pattern hair loss is commonly characterized by visible thinning over the scalp, but the frontal hairline is usually spared,” says Dr. Sasaki. “One of the first signs of this form of hair loss that women might notice is that their ponytail is smaller or their part seems wider. What is key is to stop the hair loss from progressing and to improve the condition.”

Minoxidil 6% solution is the sole topical medication approved by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for female pattern hair loss. Dr. Sasaki adds that the product works by stimulating hair growth factors and results in a thicker hair shaft diameter. Dr. Sasaki also may combine Retin A with your minoxidil solution to potentiate the effects. Red LED lights can also be an integral part of the treatment plan to stimulate hair growth. Today Platelet Rich Plasma injection to thinning scalp hair can stimulate hair growth. Currently the use of topical Revivogen a biphasic blocker of receptors for hair loss, can reverse many types of androgenic stimulation hair thinning.

Currently Dr. Sasaki can further stimulate hair growth with microneedling and PRP as well as fat injections under the scalp hair.

“For many women, they try very hard to keep their hair loss and even their Hair Stimulation a secret,” notes Dr. Sasaki. “Women appreciate that the results of hair stimulation one subtle, natural looking and virtually undetectable, which is why I think more women are considering Hair Stimulation as a permanent solution to hair loss.”

Microneedling Treatments

Medical microneedling of skin, also referred to as collagen induction therapy, is a relatively new concept aimed at stimulating the body’s own collagen and elastin production to tighten, lift and rejuvenate the skin, as well as reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, minimize pores, stretch marks, crepey skin, melasma, hyperpigmentation, and scarring such as surgical and acne scars.
