Medical-Based Information About Skin

Dr. Sasaki understands that how your skin looks is important to you. Hormonal shifts during the teenage years, pregnancy, and post-menopausal changes can play havoc on previously unblemished skin. Since these physiological changes are compounded by sun-induced damage and the aging process, it’s necessary to use a coordinated, proactive, and medical-based approach to return your skin to a healthier, translucent, and glowing condition. For over 20 years, Dr. Sasaki has been a medical consultant to more than 10 cosmeceutical skincare companies and provides evidence-based, total skincare for all skin types and pigmentation.

VISIA PhotoAnalysis

One of the best methods of skin protection is an epidermal-lipid barrier that prohibits noxious elements from penetrating and damaging your skin. With the assistance of the VISIA™ PhotoAnalysis and the Wood’s Lamp (ultraviolet light for skin pigment distribution and depth), your skincare professional can better evaluate your skin condition during the first consultation.

A Personalized Skincare Regimen

We will provide you with information on how to preserve or establish barriers to protect your skin’s integrity and moisture. You’ll also learn details about sunscreen protectors that will make a profound difference on how you select future sunscreen protection. For example, our sunscreen chemical protectors block both UV-B sun rays (which primarily induce skin cancers) and UV-A sun rays (which primarily cause photoaging). They also contain physical blockers (microparticles of zinc oxide, titanium, oxide or helioplex) that supply immediate and extended protection throughout most of the day. Your consultant will most likely suggest that you avoid prolonged and frequent hot water immersion baths or chlorine-containing swimming pools, both of which can significantly diminish your skin’s outer coating and lipid barriers.

Our medical-based skincare products include a topical application of lipid barrier enhancers, which work to replenish the vital outer layers of your skin. We will discuss with you ways to maintain skin hydration by not only increasing your daily water intake, but by also using medical-based hydrators that actively absorb water from the air and adhere to the skin’s surface.

Your skincare specialist will emphasize a gentle, chemical exfoliation of the outer skin layers via alpha hydroxy acids (such as glycolic acids) or microdermabrasion. Your specialist will also impart specific details as to why the various types of retinoids (vitamin A derivatives) remain some of the most effective ingredients available today for skin rejuvenation in the epidermal and dermal layers of your skin.

Our skincare specialists are trained to control the challenging realities of skin that has a thin dermis or different levels of melanin pigments (age spots and melasma). Our comprehensive approach includes using safe, medical-based cosmeceutical programs and the benefits of LED and ultrasound/electrical stimulation treatments. All services in the Sasaki InnoVessence SkinCare Center are under Dr. Sasaki’s supervision. He is available to answer your questions and assist in planning your skincare program.
