The S4 Procedure
A Sasaki Suture Suspension System closed procedure doesn’t involve incisions and usually takes about 1 hour. During the procedure, Dr. Sasaki places 3 sutures and integrated bi-directional cones on each side of the face to lift the cheek fat pad, jowls, and submandibular tissues. Patients see the results almost immediately with limited downtime, swelling, or pain.
The S4 open procedure requires minimal incisions, and it allows Dr. Sasaki to adjust and tighten the skin, lift the fascia muscle, and reposition the cheek fat pad to lift and tighten the face. This open technique can be combined with fat transfer using the patient’s own fat to enhance facial volume.
The results of an S4 are permanent, but the results will change over time during the natural aging process. If desired, Dr. Sasaki can insert additional sutures if a patient wants to shore up sagging tissue over time. When the degree of tissue sagging or loss of volume becomes too significant, however, patients may decide on a surgical facelift to achieve a more dramatic result.
