Buccal Fat Pad
Sasaki Advanced Aesthetic Medical Center
Cosmetic Plastic Surgeon located in Pasadena, CA
The buccal fat pad is a rounded mass of fatty tissue located with the lower cheek and lies beneath the bucinnator muscle.
Although it is an important component of facial contour, the lower portion may protrude creating an unsightly mass. The size and shape of the extruded fat bulge vary and can significantly influence facial aesthetics in patients. Buccal fat pad removal is a surgical procedure to reduce lower cheek fullness for facial balance and enhance the fullness of the upper midface.
A small incision on the inside of your mouth exposes the fat pad. A conservative removal by teasing the fat out is performed. Dr. Sasaki will examine the extent of protrusion and discuss the ramifications of its removal, benefits and risks of this surgery
