LightStim Bed

Dr. Gordon Sasaki, a Triple-Board Certified Plastic Surgeon, helped pioneer the use of LED skin rejuvenation treatments for many years at his Pasadena practice.  He is proud to introduce the LightStim LED Bed. This is a break-through technology that is being introduced to help treat patients concerned about increasing local blood flow.  LightStim LED light therapy is a comfortable, noninvasive procedure that creates a more youthful, refreshed appearance without downtime. Dr. Sasaki, a consultant for LightStim, is the first in the San Gabriel Valley and surrounding areas to offer this exciting new treatment to his patients and the community.

LightStim® LED Bed is FDA-cleared for:

The temporary relief of minor muscle and joint pain and stiffness, minor arthritic pain or muscle spasms, the temporary increase in local blood circulation, and the temporary relaxation of muscles.

What Is LED Light?

LED is short for “light-emitting diode.” It is an established medical treatment long used to help heal wounds and improve the appearance of skin.  The LightStim® Professional Bed is an FDA-cleared device for emission of four low-energy colored wavelengths (630nm, 660nm, 850-855nm, and 940nm) from a large number of Light Emitting Diodes (LED) within 30 panels on the bed.  Different wavelengths of light address various concerns.

During LightStim Professional Bed usage each LED wavelength is a different color light that provides potential unique therapeutic benefits:

  • Infrared (855nm).
  • Deep Infrared (940nm).
  • Light Red (630nm).
  • Deep Red (660nm)

Over 200 studies show the benefits of LED light therapy treatments claim:

  • increase the cell’s production of the body’s fuel source, ATP (adenosine triphosphate)
  • generate important proteins, growth factors and anti-inflammatory mediators
  • accelerate wound healing, reduce bruising, redness and swelling
  • increase production of Nitric Oxide (N0), an important signaling molecule that:
    • protects against cardiovascular disease, heart attacks, and strokes
    • prevents damage to cells caused by free-radicals
    • decreases exercise induced muscle fatigue
    • releases endorphins to inhibit pain
    • improves post-exercise recovery and promotes muscle regeneration
    • protects skin from UV damage
    • reduces high blood pressure
    • improves blood flow against infection

Currently, we are extending LED’s purported beneficial effects on:

  • Active acne
  • Hypertension
  • Cellulite
  • Alopecia

At this time, there exist no controlled studies to verify the safety or effectiveness of LED exposure for these frequent patient concerns.

Please be advised that this device is FDA-cleared to treat any of the above concerns (acne, high blood pressure, cellulite, and hair loss) in order to achieve potential benefits.  We are currently investigating under the auspices of an Investigational Research Board (IRB) the potential benefits that the LightStim® Professional LED Bed may provide to improve cellulite appearances.
